The General Authority of Customs affirmed on Thursday that no new taxes have been imposed on imported goods or on traders, dismissing circulating claims to the contrary.
The Director General of the Authority, Thamer Qasim, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that “no new taxes have been levied on imported goods; rather, what is being collected are tax deposits, which are transferred to the General Commission for Taxes through the ASYCUDA system.”
